summer program policies & procedures

arrival

  • Please ensure your child arrives on time so he/she can receive instructions for the start of the day.
  • Parents must escort toddler and pre-school age children to the front hall drop-off area; older children may enter independently.
  • Summer program begins at 8:30 am. (Morning care starts at 7:30 am.)
  • MRM will be open for drop-off between 8:15 am and 8:30 am.

dismissal

  • Dismissal occurs at either 12:00 pm for half day or 3:30 pm for full day.
  • Late fees apply if your child is not picked up on time (see late pick-up policy).

Please contact the school if there is a change in your arrival or pick-up time.

behavior

Many Rivers Montessori believes that that consequences for inappropriate behavior should be related to the problem behavior. MRM staff will approach the issue through logical consequences, recognizing the importance of the child’s responsibility in conflict resolution. The consequences are dealt with as positively as the situation allows. When merited, Many Rivers Montessori's staff may speak with parents, develop a behavior plan, and/or to remove a child from any summer program. Certain behaviors are not accepted in any circumstances. Swearing, recurrent biting or other aggressive behavior (hitting, kicking), threats of violence to others or property, or a persistently defiant attitude are not tolerated at the Many Rivers summer program, and may be cause for dismissal.

clothing

Clearly mark your child’s name on ALL clothing. As a general guideline, children should be dressed in comfortable clothes that allow for sitting on the floor and ease of movement. All children should dress appropriately for the weather. Please see the summer gear list for more information.

summer gear list

Please bring the following (clearly marked) on the 1st day of the summer program:

  • Sunscreen clearly labeled with child’s name (permission form for sunscreen needs to be signed)
  • Swimsuit and water shoes
  • Towel
  • Two changes of clothing (including underwear and socks)
  • Rain gear
  • Water bottle & carrier
  • Hat with visor
  • Primary Only: Bike Helmet
  • Lunch
  • ALL CAMPERS: Nut-free morning snack and, if in aftercare, afternoon snack.

NOTE: Many Rivers is a peanut and tree nut facility. Follow this link to access the allergy policy.

If your child takes a nap, please bring a small pillow & blanket or nap mat that can be left for the week.

late pick-up policy

This policy applies to ALL dismissal times. It is the parents’ responsibility to ensure that children are picked up from camp promptly at dismissal time. The staff appreciates your punctuality. We recognize that there are sometimes unavoidable challenges that arise causing a driver to be late. If your child is not picked up by Noon (Half Day) or 3:40 pm (Full Day), you will be charged the drop-in childcare rate of $8/hour. If you are using Afternoon Care, and are late to pick up your child, the drop-in rate also applies. If this is a repeated occurrence, you may be asked to withdraw your child from the camp with no refund owed.

emergencies

MRM will send families several forms before the start of summer camp. PLEASE MAKE CERTAIN THAT YOUR CHILD’S EMERGENCY INFORMATION IS CURRENT. If your child has an emergency at camp, we will call you at work or at home.  If you need to get a hold of your child, both in an emergency and non-emergency, calls should be directed to the main office.  If the children are not in the building, the school will contact the teachers to get the message to the child.

lunch, snack and nutrition policy

Each child should bring a nutritious peanut and tree nut free lunch and, for Elementary campers, two snacks each day. Water is provided, but elementary summer kids should bring a water bottle every day. Other beverages can be brought from home if desired. MRM does not allow soda, unhealthy sugary snacks or candy at camp. Please send food from all food groups as good nutrition helps your child focus and participate fully in the summer program experience. Please note that Many Rivers Montessori is a nut free school, and accommodates other diagnosed food allergies in its school population. A list of food allergies will be furnished to parents for each week of camp. MRM's Allergy Guide can be found here.

refund & cancellation policy

ELEMENTARY:
NON-MRM STUDENTS: Payment for all weeks is due when the application is submitted. Your child's spot will not be confirmed until payment is received.

MRM STUDENTS: Please do not choose online payment; you will be invoiced.

PRIMARY: You will be invoiced by MRM for the cost of camp. Two equal payments will be due on June 15 and July 15. If you would like to set up an alternate arrangement, contact Melissa Anderson. Please do not choose the online payment option.

Each camp must meet specific enrollment numbers to be offered. If a camp does not meet enrollment requirements 3 weeks prior to being offered, Many Rivers Montessori reserves the right to cancel it. In this event, your fee will be refunded. In the event that you must cancel your child’s registration, a full refund (less a $20 processing fee per camper) will be given if a replacement is available from a waiting list and the program is notified at least 14 days prior to the start of that camp session.

__

TODDLER: You will be invoiced by MRM for the cost of camp. Two equal payments will be due on June 15 and July 15. If you would like to set up an alternate arrangement, contact Melissa.

visitor policy

All visitors, parents and caregivers must check in with a Summer Program Staff member upon arrival.

field trips

When you complete your child’s Summer Program Registration form, you are authorizing them to participate in any field trip that may occur during his/her experience in the Many Rivers Montessori Summer Program. Individual permission slips for field trips will not be distributed.

Primary children will be taken on short walks to a nearby park or garden and will not travel in any vehicles. Elementary children may ride the city bus or a charter bus on a field trip. All children will at all times be escorted by staff at the appropriate teacher-to-student ratio for that age group.
